How close is the Brad Pitt move Troy to the true greek mythology story of the Illiad? Or rather, how loosly?
I'm about to write a review of the movie for a school project, and I already have a few comparisons of my own... But does anyone have a site that compares the two or anything? Also, what are your ideas of the two? How alike are the movie and the story? How different?

I think Troy actually follows the Iliad pretty closely. A few main differences I remember is that in the Iliad, Achilles and ummm... the other dude, weren't cousins, but lovers. Also I'm pretty sure the ending is a little different, and Achilles wasn't really in love with the temple priestess. I think the most major difference is that Troy tries to show a scientifically accurate version, basically, what might have really happened instead of involving Greek Gods and Nymphs and whatnot.

It is more accurate than other movies. But I think that some deviations they made were not necessary. They don't add to the movie. The most important flaw was the absence of the gods who should interfere dramatically in the story.
You can read a comparison to Homer's Iliad here: http://ancienthistory.about.com/b/2004/05/14/troy-the-movie-vs-homers-troy.htm
