The 2024 BET awards recently took place, in which artists received their awards and performed on stage. Usher was one of the former, as he took home the lifetime achievement award of R&B/Pop music.
Followed by his awarding, multiple artists took to the stage to pay tribute to him as they covered his songs. Childish Gambino kicked off the show with an honorable performance of “U Don’t Have To Call”, in which he was soon joined by Keke Palmer, who continued by taking the lead in “You make me wanna..”.
Soon, Coco Jones appeared in the crowd singing “There Goes My Baby”.Summer Walker took the stage for “Good Good”, as Tinashe sang “Nice & Slow” next. Marsha Ambrosius sang “Superstar”, Chloe performed “Good Kisser” and Teyana Taylor did “Bad Girl” with Victoria Monet”. Latto made her way to the stage performing “Yeah!” until Usher was called on stage to give his speech.
He reflected on his career, his struggles, and where he is now “Getting here has definitely not been easy, but it has been worth it,” he says proudly.
“I forgive each and every person who had anything to say negative about me because it only motivated me to be who I am.” he adds.
